Thermal Systems Design Engineer

Position: Thermal System Design Development Engineer

Location: Novi, MI (Onsite)

Discipline Area: Thermal system design for passenger vehicles

Experience Level: 3 5 years

Design Development Engineer to lead the design, simulation, and validation of passenger-vehicle thermal systems. This role requires strong understanding of HVAC, PTC, and thermal components such as radiators and condensers, along with experience in 1D simulation tools.

Strong knowledge of thermal system design for passenger vehicles.

Proficiency in GT-Suite and MATLAB/Simulink (mandatory).

Experience with change management and supplier communication.

Familiarity with Catia V5 (desirable).

Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and document work clearly.

Establish physics-based component requirements (HVAC, PTC, Radiator, Condenser, etc.).

Work with packaging teams to coordinate thermal system goals and ensure critical requirements are met.

Drive design updates and changes within assigned thermal system areas, including documentation and change management.

Collaborate with interface teams to balance requirements across subsystems.

Partner with the design/release team to process change orders and implement component changes.

Establish and maintain supplier contacts for component issues and communication.

Work with test engineers to create test plans and ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Perform 1D simulation of thermal systems to validate designs and optimize performance.
