JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Engineer proficient in electrical power systems, ideally with a background in drilling rigs, capable of immediate impact. Responsibilities encompass all electrical aspects related to drilling surface equipment and rigs, ranging from new design to upgrades and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will excel in Power System design and generation, possessing expertise in PLCs, PLC programming, instrumentation, control systems, and automation. Providing technical support to the Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Field Technician teams will be a key component of this role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the development and oversight of electrical systems design for new rig construction, refurbishments, modifications, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance projects. Responsibilities encompass defining project scopes, overseeing drafting processes, selecting appropriate parts, estimating costs, and conducting necessary calculations.

Provide on-site supervision for electrical-related activities in field or yard settings, ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety standards.

Conduct design prototyping, including field implementation and testing, to validate the functionality and performance of electrical systems.

Offer technical support to various departments and field service personnel, addressing inquiries and providing solutions to electrical-related issues as they arise.

Ensure compliance with regulatory codes and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry technical and safety standards to uphold project integrity and safety protocols.

Perform engineering calculations as required to optimize system design and performance.

Prepare and review comprehensive electrical product documentation, including specifications, schematics, and installation instructions.

Assist in contract review processes, ensuring alignment with engineering principles, company standards, and client requirements.

Conduct vendor technical evaluations and cost comparisons to inform procurement decisions and optimize project outcomes.

Coordinate with subcontractors, overseeing their progress and ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

Support in conducting audits of subcontractors to verify compliance with project specifications and industry regulations.

Fulfill any additional duties assigned by management to support project objectives and organizational goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor?s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 4-8 years of experience within the drilling industry, specifically focused on AC power systems. Alternatively, a Master?s degree in Electrical Engineering with 3-7 years of experience in electrical, controls, or automation fields.

Proficient in developing innovative design solutions for both large-scale projects and minor system enhancements, as well as adept at troubleshooting existing systems both remotely and on-site.

Skilled in interpreting, creating, and correcting electrical drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with engineering standards.

Capable of conducting electrical engineering calculations to optimize system performance and reliability.

Effective communicator with the ability to convey technical information clearly and persuasively to colleagues, customers, and vendors.

Demonstrates the capacity to make informed engineering decisions, particularly concerning safety-critical systems, exhibiting sound judgement and adherence to industry best practices.

Detail-oriented and thorough in approach, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks and deliverables.

Possesses general proficiency in computer usage and software applications relevant to the field of electrical engineering.

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required to support project needs and collaborate with stakeholders across various locations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

? Professional Engineering License or Engineer in Training (E.I.T) certification.

? Experience with Automation.

? Experience with Instrumentation.

? Ability to use drafting software such as AutoCAD, Solidworks electrical, Promise-E or

RS-Wire a plus and strong knowledge of electrical drafting principals.

? Experience with power system analysis and modelling system software such as ETAP, SKM.

? PLC and HMI programming a plus.

? Visual Basic and Visual C++ a plus.

? Knowledge of oilfield regulatory requirements a plus.

? Knowledge of drafting principles including CAD and PROMISE-E a plus.

? Knowledge of engineering software such as MATLAB a plus.

? Knowledge of Quality Assurance principles as it relates to manufacturing operation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

Engineer position may require periods of extended travel to domestic or international rig locations equating to approximately 25% of time worked.
