Position Summary:

We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join our Medicare Member Experience Data Science team. In this role, you will develop Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) solutions to improve the experience of millions of Aetna members. You will use natural language processing (NLP) techniques to improve models, pipelines, and text analytics programs based on member text and call documents. These programs maintain our industry-leading satisfaction scores and drive millions of dollars of Medicare reimbursement for the business. Additionally, you will mentor junior Data Scientists, ensuring their efforts coalesce into successful products.

Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years industry experience (or equivalent experience) as a Data Scientist, (AI/ML) Machine Learning Engineer, Deep Learning Engineer, or MLOps Engineer
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Azure)
  • Experience with NLP techniques, such as sentiment analysis, topic modeling, and transfer learning, especially using transformer-based models.
  • Understanding of creating class-based deep learning models in TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX and optimizing training or deployment for GPUs
  • Proficiency in Python and Git to collaborate in a team environment with shared modules and scripts
  • Familiarity with Python IDEs and a basic understanding of programming tools such as formatters, linters, and test suites.
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile frameworks like Scrum, SAFe, Kanban, or Lean.
  • Experience with project management tools like Jira, Trello, or Azure DevOps, and a track record of delivering projects on time.
  • Good communication skills including concisely conveying the root causes of problems, risks, and blockers

Preferred Qualifications
  • Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) certification, or extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform Managed Services (BigQuery, VertexAI, DataProc, DataFlow, and/or Google Kubernetes Engine).
  • Industry experience optimizing training / inference pipelines with HuggingFace on A/L/H series GPUs (bfloat, quantized, sparse, tf32, distribution including SPMD/DDP/FDSP)
  • Industry experience using LLMOps tools for toxicity detection or bias detection, or for LLM evaluation
  • Experience managing the ML lifecycle through MLOps best practices, including monitoring, retraining, and model bias evaluation.
  • Comfort calling Generative AI APIs, with or without "tools", potentially as agents
  • Experience with parallel or asynchronous functions (Joblib, Multiprocessing, Apache Beam, Apache Spark)
  • Familiarity with customer experience data, particularly within the healthcare space.
  • Advanced degreein a quantitative discipline

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline, or equivalent work experience .

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$130,295.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
