Title - Sr. MuleSoft Architect
Location-Onsite in Chicago, IL or Minneapolis, MN

DESCRIPTION:
Here is a summary of the key points for this position:
- Deep understanding of MuleSoft Any point Platform architecture
- Experience designing and implementing APIs using RAML and RESTful principles.
- Proficiency in integration patterns, microservices architecture, and event-driven design.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in MuleSoft deployments.
- Familiarity with API security (OAuth, JWT, TLS, etc.) and governance.
- Ability to define and enforce MuleSoft best practices and development standards.
- Experience leading code reviews and mentoring developers.
- Proactive with excellent communication skills
This will be hands-on with a focus on platform enhancements and thought leadership/best practices for the developers.
INTAKE NOTES!
- The person will act as a technical lead or hands-on technical architect guiding developers on best practices and deployment pipelines.
- The team supports APIs on MuleSoft and file movement using the Go Anywhere platform at a bank.
- Current projects are paused due to a system conversion from an acquired bank, with projects expected to resume and be busy the following year.
- The role involves integrating new platforms, building new APIs, and adding new capabilities.
- The individual will spend about 50-75% of their time on design, solving complex issues, and best practices, and 25-50% on hands-on coding.
- The candidate needs to have effective and proactive communication skills, including the ability to explain and justify technical decisions to management and stakeholders.
Must have requirements
- Hands-on experience with MuleSoft, specifically MuleSoft Cloud Hub and API Manager.
- Strong technical architecture skills with the ability to guide developers on best practices and solve complex design issues.
- Ability to code proficiently, with coding comprising about 25-50% of the role.
- Effective and proactive communication skills to work closely with management and stakeholders, explaining and justifying technical decisions.
- Experience level should be senior, with the candidate having more expertise than the developers they will lead.
Nice to have skills
- Financial services experience is a nice to have but not a strict requirement, as long as the candidate has strong platform knowledge.
- Experience with backend systems such as Fiserv Signature core banking system and integration with loan origination systems, deposit origination, and DocuSign is considered beneficial.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and event-driven systems is also desirable, with the environment primarily involving real-time API calls.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies is less critical as the team does not currently operate in sprints but uses Jira for work tracking.
Team Makeup
- 6 engineers who support APIs on MuleSoft and file movement platforms.
- Team members are mostly senior, with several having more than 10 yrs of experience and a few closer to five years.
- Team does not include junior members who require coaching on basics
- Geographically distributed with members located in Chicago, Minneapolis, and Evansville
- Culture expects team members to be on-site five days a week officially, but there is some unofficial flexibility in attendance.

- Manager values candidates who can communicate effectively and proactively, including the ability to explain and justify their technical decisions clearly to management and stakeholders.
- Expect the technical lead to have a level of expertise that commands respect from the development team.
- Prefers candidates who are polished and able to present technical information well.
