As a Software Quality and Process Assurance Engineer at Collins Aerospace, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring engineering excellence in some of the world's most advanced aerospace technologies. In this high-impact oversight role, you'll be responsible for verifying that Embedded Software development meets the strictest industry, contractual, and regulatory standards, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance across mission-critical military and commercial programs. You'll lead quality assurance efforts on cross-functional teams, working alongside experts in Embedded Software, Systems Engineering, Electronic Design, and Program Management to proactively identify risks, drive process improvements, and uphold technical integrity throughout the development lifecycle. With customers ranging from the U.S. Armed Forces to Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, and Rolls Royce, your work will directly influence products that protect lives and power global aviation. What You Will Do

  • Serve as Software Quality/Process Assurance Lead on a multidisciplinary Product Development Team

  • Review Engineering Development Plans to ensure process compliance to contractual, industry, and internal standards.

  • Perform Audits and Reviews to monitor compliance to Engineering Development Plans.

  • Review Engineering documentation for compliance to internal and contractual standards.

  • Participate in internal, customer, and government regulatory reviews.

  • Initiate and lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and process improvement activities.

  • Mentor and train junior Software Quality/Process Assurance engineers

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Expertise with one or more key industry standards for aerospace engineering development, particularly in support of safety-critical systems: DO-178 for Software, DO-254 for Complex Hardware or ARP4754 for Systems Engineering.

  • Strong background in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies, with practical experience using structured problem-solving tools.

  • Working knowledge of Engineering Configuration Management systems such as SVN, Synergy, or DOORS, with an understanding of their role in traceability and lifecycle control.

  • Familiarity with Continuous Process Improvement frameworks, such as CORE, Six Sigma, or Lean principles, with the ability to apply them to real-world engineering challenges.

  • Understanding of AS9100/AS9115 Quality Management System standards and how they apply to engineering development and product assurance in the aerospace industry.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
