Location: Lake Mary, FL & Pittsburgh, PA

Duration: Long Term

Onsite W2 Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated BI Metadata & Controls Developer to support our growing inventory of Business Intelligence (BI) tools, including Power BI, Tableau, and others. This role will focus on harvesting metadata, analysing usage patterns (the who, what, and why), and implementing governance and control mechanisms to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance.

Responsibilities

This role requires experience as a BI Administrator, along with proficiency in REST APIs and Python. The ideal candidate should be capable of examining backend systems to identify and extract logs detailing who made specific changes to the data. The goal is to generate a report that clearly outlines these changes, which will be presented to leadership to provide visibility into data modifications and accountability.

  • Metadata Harvesting: Extract and catalog metadata from BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and others.
  • Usage Analysis: Identify and analyze report usage patterns to understand who is using what, and why.
  • Governance & Controls: Design and implement controls to manage access, usage, and lifecycle of BI assets.
  • Development: Build internal tools and dashboards using SQL, Python, and Angular to support metadata analysis and reporting.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data governance, IT, and business stakeholders to align BI practices with organizational standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of metadata structures, control processes, and development work.

Qualifications

  • BI Admin experience with tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with BI tool APIs for metadata extraction.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating data.
  • Experience with Python for scripting and automation.
  • Familiarity with Angular for front-end development.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data governance frameworks.
  • Background in data engineering or BI development.
  • Understanding of BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with metadata management and data governance concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
