DESCRIPTION
This position provides technical support by assessing, troubleshooting, and following established guidelines to solve IT hardware, software and networking issues. Responds to requests for assistance via calls as well as remote or onsite assistance.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following
- Provides initial IT assistance to all city departments, both remotely and in-person. Answers end-user phone calls, processes incidents and service requests placed to Support Services.
- Installs software and hardware and troubleshoots IT issues on-site or using remote network technology tools.
- Assists city departments with relocation, installation, and new equipment set up.
- Configures end-user computing devices, network printers, mobile devices, VPN connectivity, workstation IP addresses, system settings, and imaging operating system software for the city's workstation computers and mobile devices.
- Refreshes out of warranty equipment on a rolling replacement cycle for all city departments. Processes equipment for vendor pickup, and updates asset database records.
- Assists the IT warehouse service center with imaging, warranty repairs, and general warehouse duties.
- Maintains IT documentation and knowledge base articles for common support resolutions.
- Obtains price quotes and provides software and computer equipment for city clients. Assists with maintaining accurate inventory records for hardware and software licensing. Coordinates receiving, delivery, and warehousing of computer equipment.
- Maintains stock levels of commonly used IT equipment based upon the department s inventory standards.
- This is a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) regulated position and requires the ability to meet and maintain compliance with the Security Policy.
- May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in service desk support, or related experience.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education:
Equivalent to an associate or vocational/technical school degree in Computer Information Systems, Business Management or related field.
The term equivalent means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal one-year increments for college-level education (2 additional years for an associate degree and 4 additional years for a bachelor s degree).
Professional Licensure and/or Certifications:
- Valid driver s license.
- Certification from CompTIA, Microsoft, or Google.
