Job Description
We are seeking a Data Operations and Development Lead who will spearhead development and delivery of critical reports, dashboards, and advanced analytics to our client within the Federal Government. In this position, you will utilize your experience in leading a team of data specialists to meet client day-to-day and new data needs that support business processes that have nationwide impact.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand ongoing and future data needs.
  • Build relationships at every level of the organization and develop a deep understanding of the business context.
  • Work with the primary client to prioritize and manage day-to-day activities, task prioritization, team utilization, and data deliveries, utilizing Agile project and task management.
  • Lead data analytics team members to drive full data lifecycle activities, including new platform, data engineering, and reporting capabilities.
  • Lead day-to-day operations to ensure all stakeholder commitments are met.
  • Lead migration from legacy data warehouse and business intelligence platform to the new cloud native Azure platform.
  • Be hands-on with the technologies, such as constructing SQL queries, in order to facilitate effective data analysis, subject domain understanding, troubleshooting, task scoping, data quality checks, and demonstrations.
  • Establish, maintain, and coordinate Agile development and operations, including Program Increment Planning.
  • Manage design, development, deployment, and operation of Microsoft Azure based data solutions.
  • Coordinate support from infrastructure and network support teams, vendors, and government service providers.
  • Maintain continuous learning to propose new approaches and solutions to meet client needs.
  • Incorporate and drive best practices in cloud-based data infrastructure, data architecture, data quality assurance, data security, data standards, data management, data governance, data engineering, performance optimization, reporting, and analytics.
  • Collaborate with the client to maintain technical roadmap, ensuring incorporation of latest tools and technologies such as Generative AI.
  • Ensure appropriate project knowledge management and documentation.
  • Manage training, knowledge transfer, and support to client data management team and users.

Required Experience/Skills
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 12+ years of prior experience.
  • 8+ years of experience leading a Microsoft Azure cloud-based data analytics team.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate well.
  • Experience leading team of Data Specialists, including Business Analysts, Data Architects, Data Modelers, Data Engineers, Azure Cloud Administrators, and Report Developers.
  • Leadership experience delivering enterprise scale cloud data solutions, including reports, dashboards, visualization, data extracts, Ad Hoc query capabilities.
  • Experience utilizing agile process (Kanban/Scrum) to drive daily platform and data operations, and new development.
  • Experience implementing Azure cloud native services-based data engineering, data lakehouse, data warehouse, multi-dimensional and normalized data models, reports, data extracts, and other data services.
  • Experience incorporating best practices in data architecture, data quality assurance, data security, data standards, data engineering, and data governance.
  • Experience delivering solutions using Azure services such as ADLS, ADF, Synapse Analytics, Apache Spark.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack (Power BI, SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS).
  • Ability to use data query and reporting tools such as SSMS, Power BI, SQL query tools.
  • Ability to conceptualize and articulate use of Azure cloud services-based integrated architecture to deliver data solutions, including access to external data sources such as AWS and on-premises data.
  • Understanding of AI/ML and Generative AI solutions and application to data analysis.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with proven problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detail oriented, and able to multi-task with good follow through skills.
  • Ability to successfully obtain a government-issued Public Trust clearance.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Power BI and Microsoft Azure data analytics related certifications.
  • Experience delivering GenAI and AI/ML outcomes.
  • Experience supporting data governance, including data catalogs, business glossaries, metadata management.

Education
At least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.


Pay Summary
  • Pay rate up to $78/hr W2, depending on experience
