Job Description:

13+ years of IT experience and minimum of 5+ years of experience on managing PostgreSQL databases and migrating PostgreSQL servers to Azure Database for PostgreSQL using various tools. Willing to provide 24x7 support, flexible to work in shifts.

Primary Skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PostgreSQL:

  • Planning for Production Storage and Capacity Management.
  • Create logical models and build physical models.
  • Installing and Managing PostgreSQL Clusters on Azure VMs, provisioning Azure Database for PostgreSQL (Flexible Server).
  • Migrating PostgreSQL instances to Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
  • Migrating PostgreSQL from on-premises, Azure VMs, and other cloud platforms to Azure-managed services.
  • Administer production and development PostgreSQL databases, ensuring maximum availability.
  • Installation and configuration of PostgreSQL on UNIX/Linux platforms.
  • Performing PostgreSQL version upgrades (major and minor).
  • Applying security patches and updates for PostgreSQL.
  • Extensive working knowledge of PostgreSQL utilities
  • Demonstrable experience working effectively with clients and internal teams to resolve issues.
  • Good knowledge in UNIX and shell scripting.
  • Handle all PostgreSQL DBA-related daily maintenance tasks.
  • Experience in Database/SQL Performance Tuning

Mandatory Technical Skills Required

  • Migrating on-premise PostgreSQL workloads to Azure Database for PostgreSQL (Flexible Server).
  • Security setup: Enabling & Configuring SSL/TLS authentication to encrypt data transfer.
  • Configuration of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR).
  • Day-to-day PostgreSQL administration activities.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting PostgreSQL performance issues.

Secondary Skills

  • Azure Database PaaS services (Azure SQL DB, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Good knowledge of tools, scripting, and PowerShell.
  • Experience in backup, restore, PITR, replication, and failover strategies.
  • Conforming to client compliances and expectations.

Certifications (Good to Have)

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Associate
  • PostgreSQL-related certifications such as:
    • PostgreSQL Associate / Professional
    • Cloud PostgreSQL certifications
