Position: Electrical Design Engineer 5

Length of Contract: 9 months

Location: 100% onsite in Milpitas, CA

Rate: $70-75/hr

Hours: 9 AM to 5 PM Monday-Friday

Team Structure:

The role is part of a large central engineering team supporting multiple divisions, about 60 people split evenly between electrical and mechanical. Current projects include system interlocks for laser and control, designing control circuits for hardware, and PLC programming for firmware integration. Work model is hybrid for most of the team, but electrical engineers are expected to be onsite daily (100% onsite required). Occasional remote work for schematic tasks is acceptable.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

Include gathering requirements from functional teams, creating and presenting requirement documents for approval, concept design, stakeholder and detailed design reviews, overseeing part assembly (contractors build assemblies), testing on tools, firmware testing, and handoff to manufacturing.

Design tools can be AutoCAD or ORCAD for schematic creation only; board design is not required. FPGA engineers with strong programming skills can transition well to PLC programming. Limited time for training, so candidates must be ready to contribute quickly.

Requirements:

Top requirement is PLC programming.

Candidates should have a BS or MS degree and 5-7 years of experience (minimum 5 years required, strong 4-year experience may be considered).

Power distribution design experience is a plus, along with strong electrical engineering fundamentals.
