Description

IT Systems Engineer We are seeking an IT Systems Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and optimize our internal systems and infrastructure in a hybrid environment to ensure the stability, security, scalability, and performance of our on-premises and cloud-based IT systems. This role combines hands-on technical responsibilities with strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration. You will act as a technical lead for projects, provide Tier 2/3 escalation support, and ensure our infrastructure evolves in line with business needs.
This is a 5-DAY ONSITE ROLE in Atlanta GA!

Requirements

Key Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and maintain on-premises and cloud-based server, storage, and network infrastructure. Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and expansions across Windows environments. Administer virtualization platforms including VMware ESXi and Hyper-V. Manage Active Directory (on-prem and hybrid), Group Policy Objects, DNS, DHCP, and user/group provisioning. Implement and manage firewall rules, security policies, and secure networking practices (Sonicwall). Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure issues to ensure high availability and performance. Maintain and support remote access solutions (Zscaler). Provide Tier 2/3 technical support, handling complex service requests and incident escalations. Serve as a technical escalation point for the IT team, mentoring junior level staff and contributing to continuous improvement. Optimize system performance and conduct regular maintenance and patching. Monitor security alerts and contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning. Maintain accurate documentation including architecture diagrams, procedures, best practices, and knowledge base articles. Participate in IT project planning, capacity planning, and infrastructure scalability analysis. Research and recommend technologies to improve efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications and Skills: 5+ years of experience in a similar IT systems or infrastructure engineering role. Strong experience with Windows Server (2016-2022), Active Directory, Group Policy. Proficiency with virtualization platforms (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V). Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and infrastructure (LAN/WAN, VLANs, firewalls). Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell required; Python a plus). Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, Azure AD, and hybrid cloud environments. Experience supporting application deployments and upgrades. Telecom experience and knowledge of VoIP or unified communications a plus. Additional Information: Occasional out-of-state travel (approximately once per quarter). Must be able to support after-hours maintenance. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
