Role: Azure Data Platform Engineer (Hybrid 1-2 Days/ Week)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Summary:

The Data Engineer role sits in the Analytics and Reporting function under the Chief Data Organization in the Americas Division.

Candidate will be working to answer Data Analytics and Reporting needs of the various stakeholders in the business units.

This includes developing methods, processes, and workflows to consolidate and analyze structured/unstructured, diverse big data sources to generate actionable insights and solutions for strategic initiatives.

Data Engineer/Scientist will interact with counterparts in the governance function and business teams to identify needs and issues for data analysis and experiments.

Develop and code algorithms and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources. Identify meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources.

Build models to predict counter party risk and other intelligence to help support business decision making. Interpret and communicate insights and findings from analysis and experiments to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Use best practices and data of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.

Participate in initiatives, programs or products with moderate visibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of an agile team to design and develop frameworks for loading and transforming data in Data Lake using Azure Cloud technologies. (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, Databricks).
  • 7-10 years of experience with data platforms, data warehouses, ELT, SQL. (Microsoft preferred).
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience with data related Azure Cloud Services (Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Functions).
  • 1-2 years' experience with Azure Data Bricks and Python.
  • Works with business to research and document analytics and reporting needs. Interpret and communicate insights and findings from analysis to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Supports a comprehensive testing through deployment of test cases aimed at validating development for a specific functional requirement.
  • Analyzes data or new requirements for reports or data migration and efforts to consolidate data into centralized warehouses.
  • Coordinates solutions and fixes through change management, service requests, testing and liaising with technology support.
  • Produces and distributes periodic status reports and scorecards.
  • Performs knowledge transfer and cross training for stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with the business to resolve data quality issues when the issue is due to business process issues.
  • Works with IT to implement the technology necessary to support the data governance and analytics/reporting program.
  • Creates processes to streamline data onboarding from different vendors.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with Azure Databricks, Python and or PySpark
  • Develop codes, procedures, and algorithms to consolidate and analyze structured/unstructured, diverse big data sources to generate actionable insights and solutions for strategic initiatives.
  • Good Programming skills such as Python/R and SQL based query languages.
  • Ability to handle large volume of datasets. Integrate new data feeds using external data files and make API calls with Azure Data Factory/Data Lake.
  • Experience with cloud-based computing services Azure, Databricks, Spark etc.
  • Knowledge of Data mining using Python, Kapow or other tools.
  • Perform Data Discovery, Extraction, Cleansing and Transformation to support advanced analytics using BI Tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Trifecta etc.
  • Good attention to details, documentation skills and collaborate with technical and non-technical teams within CDO Organization.
  • Tenacious problem solver able to make routine decisions as well as complex analyses in a fast-paced, technical environment.
  • Ability to influence people outside the immediate span of control, negotiate and resolve conflicts, and work with business users, IT partners and vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate concepts and ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Experience either marketing financial deals or supporting Front Office financial areas is a plus.
