About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our team on a contingent basis. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of scalable software solutions. You'll work on moderately complex engineering challenges, support process improvements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of scalable, Java-based applications and RESTful web services.
- Participate in the design and implementation of microservices using event-driven and domain-driven architectures.
- Analyze and resolve technical challenges, applying sound judgment and best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify opportunities for process and system improvements.
- Support the development and deployment of cloud-native applications.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and team members to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Maintain a strong focus on code quality, performance, and reliability.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering or equivalent experience through education, training, or military service.
- Hands-on experience with Java and object-oriented programming (OOP).
- Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, MongoDB, SQL Server, DB2).
- Exposure to cloud platforms and distributed systems architecture.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and with CI/CD tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience building scalable, Java-based applications.
- Experience with Apache Kafka, APIGEE Gateway, and microservices architecture.
- Strong understanding of event-driven systems and domain-driven design.
- Industry-recognized technology certification(s).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of modern web and mobile application development.
