This position provides custom packaging and deployment of agency software. This includes updates, patching, and life cycle management of this software. It is the lead technical administrator and engineer for the deployment of agency software, ensuring consistent quality for these implementations. It is responsible for secondary systems administration of the agency s software distribution systems, security service system and the mobile device management system.

This position is a professional level IT client computing technician providing consultation, analysis, design, configuration and integration for agency s client computing environment. It is responsible for complex technical problem resolution of computing systems infrastructure services and client applications, operating systems, and hardware. Works with and develops in PowerShell scripting language to manage our computing environments.

The incumbent will provide lead technical services for assistive technologies, which includes researching, configuring, testing, consulting, and support to the human resources division, and staff agency wide. They will work with agency s Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity (DR/BC) team to ensure the client systems integration units DR/BC plans are up to date and viable.

Duties

Some of what you will do:

  • Technical lead for the packaging and deployment of L&I approved software and applications to L&I s client computers and servers both on premise and in the cloud environments, including:
    • Leads the technical process for configuration/packaging and deployment of agency core applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, Java, etc.
    • Leads the technical process for configuration/packaging and deployment of agency exception software.
    • Ensures the proper life cycle management for applications and software are attained.
    • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automating and managing our Windows systems.
  • Secondary systems administration and operational support, including:
    • Provides secondary system administration and operational support as needed for the agency s computing infrastructure systems such as the software distribution system, security service system, mobile device management system and others.
    • Works with the lead systems administrators to manage and maintain system standards and functionality.
    • Responsible for supporting day to day activities as needed for managing these systems.
  • Provides tier 3 support, for client computing hardware, software, including the Windows operating systems, and its integration to the agency s applications and hardware., including:
    • Resolves agency wide tier 3 client computing trouble-tickets that cannot be resolved by the tier 1 or tier 2 technicians.
    • Leads and or works with problem management teams, using agency standard processes. These teams are responsible for problem isolation, problem identification, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
    • Serves as a lead for developing troubleshooting procedures and direction.
    • Utilizes sophisticated trouble shooting tools and techniques, like task manager, Windows logging, Windows Sysinternals, Wireshark and others.
    • Responds to and works with IT division s incident response teams.
  • Assistive Technology support person, including:
    • Provides research, consultation, coordination and technical leadership for assistive technology activities.
    • Develops agency-wide assistive technology related desktop operational processes and procedures.
  • Works with agency s Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity (DR/BC) lead to ensure the units DR/BC plans are viable, including:
    • Has primary responsibility for entry of data into units DR/BC software application.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor s degree in information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field

And

  • four (4) years relevant IT professional experience.

Or

  • Eight (8) years of *IT professional experience supporting a Microsoft Windows client computing environment comprised of 100+ customers in a multi-tier network environment (i.e. includes client, server, LAN/WAN, and centralized web services).

Or

  • A combination of education and IT experience.


*IT professional experience includes supporting a Microsoft Windows client computing environment comprised of 100+ customers in a multi-tier network environment (i.e. includes client, server, LAN/WAN, and centralized web services), or experience integrating new hardware, software (such as operating system) and incorporating changes into an organizations standard computing environment.
Also required:

  • Six (6) years experience working in a formal IT environment managing, and processing documented and tracked trouble tickets and service requests assigned to you, and independently doing the work to complete and close assigned service tickets.
  • Five (5) years experience working with Microsoft s Active Directory, and having a thorough understand of Active Directories structure, protocols, and services.
  • Four (4) years experience using advanced diagnostic tools to analyze and resolve complex client computing hardware and software problems.
  • Three (3) years experience utilizing and supporting an application packaging system and software distribution system.
  • Two (2) years experience with operating systems and software patching.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of teamwork.   • Working knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) for application deployment.
  • Good documentation skills to create detailed reports of application integration performed. Must be able to edit existing integration documentation to show all modifications.
  • Experience with Microsoft s Endpoint Configuration Manager (used as an application deployment tool).
  • Experience with Admin Studio (used as an application package tool).
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management processes. Able to apply these processes to assigned projects.
