Job Details

JOB PURPOSE

We are expanding our established Fraud Prevention team and are looking for a Data Scientist focused on fraud detection and prevention. This role is central to protecting our business and customers by leveraging advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical techniques to identify fraud risks and strengthen our defenses. You'll work closely with our Fraud Prevention Manager and collaborate with the broader fraud and data science teams to:

  • Uncover hidden fraud patterns
  • Monitor the health of the portfolio
  • Design proactive solutions to close fraud gaps
  • Share insights with leadership to drive business decisions.
  • Build analyses and models that will have a direct and immediate impact on the security of our platform and the trust of our customers and retail partners

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
  • Python (3+ years' experience); Numpy, Pandas, ScikitLearn, XGBoost
  • SQL (2+ years' experience)
  • Knowledge of common fraud typologies (card fraud, identity theft, etc.), fraud attack vectors and system vulnerabilities.
  • Understanding of the chargeback dispute/management process.
  • Feature engineering for fraud detection: Ability to design meaningful fraud-specific features (e.g., velocity checks, behavioral profiles, device/IP link analysis).
  • Experience with hybrid rule and machine-learning based fraud prevention platforms (e.g. Kount, CyberSource Decision Manager, Signifyd) a plus.
  • Ability to balance customer friction, fraud loss and portfolio performance.
  • Ability to work independently and to take responsibility.
