Job Overview:
We are seeking a Data Scientist to support Quality Management efforts through advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and performance trend analysis. This role plays a key part in leveraging large-scale healthcare data to inform quality strategies, support pay-for-performance initiatives, and improve health outcomes across Medicaid and CHIP programs. You ll work with diverse datasets ranging from provider quality scores to member satisfaction data to identify trends, build models, and generate actionable insights that guide public healthcare decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Apply statistical, machine learning, and predictive modeling techniques to large healthcare datasets to identify quality trends and forecast performance
- Analyze data from sources such as HEDIS, CAHPS, value-based purchasing programs, and member-level claims or encounter data
- Develop models to support pay-for-performance analysis, risk stratification, provider scoring, and outcome prediction
- Collaborate with analysts, quality teams, and policy stakeholders to translate insights into strategies that improve care quality and program accountability
- Build and maintain reproducible data pipelines and models that support ongoing reporting and quality improvement projects
- Document methodologies, assumptions, and findings in support of transparency and compliance
- Support performance dashboard development and integrate analytical outputs into reporting platforms
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in data science or advanced analytics role, preferably in healthcare or public sector environments
- Proficiency in Python or R for statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization
- Experience working with healthcare quality data, such as HEDIS, CAHPS, or managed care performance metrics
- Strong understanding of statistical techniques (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, time-series forecasting)
- Experience with structured data (SQL) and working knowledge of data warehousing or cloud-based platforms
- Ability to communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred:
- Background in Medicaid/CHIP or other public health programs
- Familiarity with CMS quality programs, healthcare outcome frameworks, or health equity analysis
- Experience developing metrics or models used in pay-for-performance or value-based care strategies
