Job Description

The Design Director for Telemundo Design & Branding oversees and manages a team of multi-disciplinary staff and contractors for Telemundo Marketing & Creative Strategy. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage robust campaign design system and design-driven efforts for Telemundo Entertainment Marketing Creative from ideation to execution
  • Collaboratively build the bridge between Key Art, Motion Design and Social Media to build effective, holistic campaigns for shows and brand
  • Direct and manage on-air, off-air, social/ digital designers for creative alignment
  • Responsible for managing, inspiring and developing designers and other employees under their supervision.
  • Manage the oversight and design direction to include but not limited to motion and static digital content, OOH campaign design and design for social-media platforms, plus graphics for trailers / promos and thumbnails.
  • Oversee brainstorms, design ideations, pitches, and executions for innovative and engaging creative activations
  • Identify and onboard new talent as necessary for both staff and contractor positions
  • Build partnerships with Marketing and Creative teams and leadership to develop innovative and strategic creative ideas, concepts and activations
  • Identify, engage and manage external creative agencies, freelance designers, animators, and other vendors
  • Coordinate with project management/producers to identify project needs and timing to build and meet deadlines
  • Lead presentations to internal and external partners and executives
  • Oversee finishing production with in-house team and outside vendors, managing retouching, rendering and delivery of elements, toolkits, and style guides
  • Promote excellence through effective detail-oriented quality control
  • Partner with teams across Telemundo and NBC Universal Broadcast, Cable and Streaming, including Marketing, Platforms, Public Relations/Press, Ad Sales, Affiliate Marketing and more.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Works under the direct supervision of VP, Design and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by supervisor


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • 10+ years of agency advertising and/or in-house film, television, or commercial design experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience as design director
  • Strong organization, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong collaborator that works well under pressure in a matrix organization
  • Strong understanding of and passion for overall design trends, campaign design landscape, workflows, and emerging technologies
  • Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects and Acrobat

Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
  • Must have a portfolio that demonstrates excellent design skills and capability
  • Willingness to travel with short notice and on weekends
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including late and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment
  • Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
