Engineer II - Business Intelligence

What you'll do:
As an IT Engineer II you'll work on teams that are managing and supporting the organization's IT infrastructure, data, or applications. You'll support senior engineers in the development and support activities as well as project tasks as directed. Additionally, in this role you'll have the opportunity to contribute on teams in a collaborative environment.

This position is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing BI processes for the Mortgage segment, with a strong emphasis on production support. This role bridges operational reliability with data-driven development, ensuring timely resolution of issues, continuous improvement of reporting systems, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable BI solutions.
  • Monitor scheduled jobs, ETL pipelines, and dashboards for failures or performance degradation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues using established runbooks and escalation protocols.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to ensure system uptime and data integrity.
  • Design, develop, and maintain reports, dashboards, and data models using SQL, Power BI, and other BI tools.
  • Enhance existing BI solutions to improve performance, usability, and scalability.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to SDLC artifacts including test plans, release documentation, and change logs.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of data flows, lineage, and system dependencies.
  • Support audit and compliance requests by producing traceable and validated BI artifacts.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization within the BI support lifecycle.

What you'll need:
  • 1+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, or Application Support.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Proficiency in SQL (Transact-SQL), with experience in troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git), and tools like Azure DevOps (ADO) is a plus.
  • Familiar with BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or SSRS a plus.
  • Good experience of Microsoft Office, Presentation and Diagram Software (e.g. Lucid, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Demonstrate ability to evaluate complex processes and drive improvements through data analysis.
  • Understanding of SDLC, change management, and ITIL-based support practices.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Exposure to C#/.NET or understanding of object-oriented programming is a plus.
