Role : Ribbon C15 Switch Engineer
Location: REMOTE (initial 2 to 6 Weeks Onsite in Dallas then Remote )
Duration: 12 months contract, will extend
The intention is for the engineer to spend between 2 and 6 weeks in Dallas in order to become proficient with their duties as a senior level support engineer. After he or she achieves that proficiency, the engineer will return home and work fully remote.
Summary/Objective: pleased to offer this opportunity to support our customer , as a C15 Switch Engineer. You will work as an integral part of our customer's Managed Services Team to resolve ticket escalations, and provide troubleshooting and technical support covering C15 switch faults. You will need a solid C15 Translations skill set and you may also conduct virtual training for engineers. Experience with mobile call switching, Verizon, Frontier or GTE will be helpful.
- Must be an SME for C15 Soft Switch (VoIP) and/or DMS10 translations
- Expert with developing and managing a customer dial plan
- 10+ years of Ribbon C15 switch translations experience
Essential Functions:
- Perform duties as a Ribbon C15 Switch Engineer
- Write, evaluate and correct switch translations
- Manage repairs of the Ribbon C15 Dial Central Office (DCO) switching systems utilizing technical resources and circuit records
- Must have a solid understanding of VoIP and legacy telephone switch architecture and migrations
- Must be familiar with CLI and TL1 commands for legacy switches
- Must be familiar with Telnet, Putty terminal emulators
- Must be familiar with LERG, and how to use it to verify translations
- Legacy switch to VoIP migration and cutover experience is required
- Must be able to follow MOPS
- Experience with Ribbon G5 and G6 Gateways, and the C20 Call Controller, is a bonus
Other Functions:
- Perform cutover from legacy switch to C15
- Resolve ticket escalations including calls, emails and alerts through various network monitoring and ticketing tools
- Support maintenance activities on Ribbon C20 switch, may also be asked to support DMS 10, and G5 Gateway
- Perform fault isolation as needed to resolve reported switch problems
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Initially, work will be be in Dallas, TX until proficiency is achieved
- Work will then be performed REMOTELY
- No special strength or agility requirements
- Ability to work in Shifts and Maintenance Windows in a 24 X 7 environment
- Some travel may be required
Required Education/Experience and Competencies:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 10+ years of Ribbon C15 switch translations experience
- Other Ribbon and general telecom switch, including VoIP knowledge and experience
- SME for C15 Soft Switch (VoIP) and/or DMS10 translations including dial plan management
- 5 - 10 years' experience with:
- cCommon XML-based element manager, command line interface or Windows GUI
- Integrated AMA collection - Telcordia BAF recording with FTP retrieval
- Integrated media and application server and respond to alarms that appear
- SNMP email or paging alert for alarms integrated test head for line and loop testing
- Effective Quality of Service tools to monitor VoIP user experiences
- Always promote and maintain a high standard of customer service
- Conduct virtual training, as needed
- Strong teamwork, good communication and documentation skills
