Working Hours: M F, 8-hour days (limited weekend work with advance notice)
Work Location: On-site (Government / High-Security Facility)
Summary / Objective:
Glow Networks is seeking a highly experienced Lead DAS Installation Technician to support a Wireless Containment / Distributed Antenna System (DAS) repair and installation project at a government, high-security site. This role is both hands-on and supervisory, requiring the technician to work alongside the crew while also acting as the on-site technical lead.
The ideal candidate will have strong DAS installation experience, prior lead or site-lead responsibility, and the ability to execute work in strict compliance with detailed scopes, quality standards, and schedules.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the on-site lead technician, providing daily technical leadership and oversight
- Coordinate field activities with the Project Manager to meet schedule and quality expectations
- Execute DAS / WCS installation and repair work in accordance with the approved Scope of Work
- Lead and support installation activities including:
- Fiber fusion splicing, termination, and testing (single-mode, SC/APC)
- Coaxial cable installation, termination, and sweeping
- EMT conduit installation, grounding, and bonding
- Power distribution and equipment power-up
- Install and service DAS components such as:
- MROUs, HMRUs, HARUs
- Interior and exterior antennas (including boom-mounted antennas)
- Junction boxes, trough boxes, and non-metallic enclosures
- Ensure all work meets industry standards, safety requirements, and project specifications
- Perform and verify testing requirements:
- Fiber loss and reflectance testing
- Coax sweep testing (698 MHz 2700 MHz)
- Ensure proper labeling of all fiber, coax, power, and CAT5e cables per project labeling standards
- Identify, report, and correct workmanship or quality issues in real time
- Support documentation requirements including:
- Weekly progress updates
- Photo documentation of completed work
- Close-out and as-built documentation support
- Act as the technical escalation point for site-related issues
Other Functions:
- Coordinate daily work sequencing with field crews
- Communicate effectively with project management regarding progress and constraints
- Support adherence to safety, access, and site-control requirements
- Assist with schedule recovery and problem resolution as needed
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
- On-site work at a government / high-security location
- Ability to work on rooftops, ladders, lifts, and exterior installations
- Ability to lift, carry, and install equipment and materials
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments
Required Education / Experience and Competencies:
- 7+ years of hands-on DAS installation experience
- Prior lead technician or site-lead experience required
- Strong experience with:
- DAS / Wireless Containment Systems
- Fiber fusion splicing and testing
- Coax installation and RF testing
- EMT conduit, grounding, and bonding
- Ability to read and execute detailed SOWs, drawings, and layouts
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to pass background screening required for government / high-security site access
Preferred Certifications:
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- Fiber certification (ETA, BICSI, or equivalent)
Lift, ladder, or fall protection certifications
