What you'll do...
We're seeking a driven, curious self-starter to join our team as a Data Analyst to help assess the impact and strength of different campaigns, marketing approaches, and product features on driving customer acquisition and engagement.
As part of your role, you will report to the Director of Product for Spruce and work with a cross functional set of stakeholders from our marketing, go to market, and product development teams. You will collaborate with colleagues to understand the overall business OKRs and plans for delivery, and construct analyses which help us to understand and identify:

Pay Range Information
The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.
Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.

What you'll do...

- The impact of our product features and marketing programs on our bottom line, business and customer goals
- The ongoing impact of our product for our customers' financial health
- Opportunities to improve the product and our communication with customers
- Customer behavioral trends that influence acquisition and engagement strategies and tactics
In this role you will:
In this role, you will be responsible for structuring, completing and communicating results of analyses which help to shape our product roadmap, marketing approaches, and go to market engagement. Your work will help us to learn more about our customers, where we're supporting them, and what we can do to improve our acquisition and engagement approaches.
As a data analyst on the Spruce team, you will:
- Collaborate on problem statements - Work with stakeholders across product, marketing, and research to craft problem statements to inform your roadmap of analyses.
- [Design, complete and report out on analyses - Complete self-led work to deliver on problem statements by designing, completing and sharing results from analyses.
- Make recommendations based on findings - Emphasize the 'so what' in your analyses and make recommendations or propose experiments to help affirm your conclusions.
- Work with multiple data sources to find ways to answer complex questions - Leverage data from multiple sources including external analyses and reports, marketing technology databases, administrative databases, and technical logs, to find ways to answer complex questions.
- Monitor performance of campaigns and features - Work with marketing and product partners to identify new campaigns and feature launches and monitor their performance against their goals.
- Master primary data sources and deploy your curiosity to identify great customer stories - Learn the detail of regular data sources and begin to actively investigate opportunities to improve outcomes, or pockets of over performance that could be replicated.
- Advise on data collection processes - Reflect on gaps in available data and advise on future data collection practices.
- Prioritize short and long term requests - Work with stakeholders to ensure that short and longer term requests and analyses can be appropriately prioritized.
What you'll bring to the team...
Education:
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR equivalent experience
Work Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in Data Science building models, constructing analyses and reporting out findings
- Experience in Financial services
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, familiarity with Tableau and/or PowerBI visualization tools
- Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (logistic regression, KNN, gradient boosting, random forest, SVM, Naive Bayes, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
- Comfort working in multiple data environments and leveraging multiple sources to answer a complex question
- Positive and flexible attitude to enable adjusting to different needs in an ever-changing environment
It would be even better if you also had...
- Experience growth hacking within a fintech or other engagement context
- Experience running research and analyses in multiple contexts
- Analytical position oriented towards growth - acquisition, engagement, delivery mechanisms, partnerships to figure out how to grow the business
- Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR equivalent experience
