Job Details
Position: Lab Operations Support Engineer
Location: Gloucester, MA (Onsite 100%)
Duration: 12 months with Possible extension
Pay Rate: $50 - $55/hr
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows client and server environments.
- Design, configure, and manage hardware including clustered and standalone servers, blade servers, VMware environments, and storage solutions (RAID, SAN technologies).
- Deploy and manage monitoring tools to ensure system health and performance.
- Apply patches and maintain antivirus protection to meet customer security standards.
- Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation for lab computing equipment.
- Ensure all Windows servers are compliant with customer security requirements.
- Manage server and storage hardware within the Data Center environment.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical system incidents as needed.
- Lead the escalation process for support issues and critical incidents.
- Analyze, define, and document technical requirements for system improvements.
- Support the development and execution of enterprise strategic plans to mitigate risks, address gaps, and enable growth through new technologies.
- Perform proactive maintenance, monitoring, and reporting to uphold infrastructure integrity.
- Manage service tickets and resolve operational issues in a timely manner.
- Participate in root cause analyses to improve system reliability.
- Collaborate effectively with operations teams and key stakeholders across the organization.
- Monitor Windows and Linux servers to identify and resolve performance and stability issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in system administration, infrastructure support, and lab operations.
- Strong expertise in Windows Server environments, VMware, RAID, and SAN technologies.
- Experience with server and storage hardware management in data centers.
- Solid understanding of IT security standards and compliance.
- Proficiency in monitoring tools, patch management, and antivirus solutions.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide 24/7 support as required.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
