Job Title: Power BI Developer
Location: Remote

Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Power BI Developer with deep expertise in Power BI, data modeling, and SQL Server. The ideal candidate will have strong experience building datasets and reports, writing complex SQL queries, and troubleshooting data mismatches from the source system to the reporting layer. Knowledge of data warehouse concepts and end-to-end data validation is essential.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets

Build efficient data models, including star schemas, relationships, and DAX calculations

Write and optimize complex SQL queries to prepare and validate data

Conduct end-to-end data troubleshooting, tracing discrepancies back to source systems, staging layers, and the data warehouse

Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights

Implement best practices for report performance optimization, data refresh, and dataset management

Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality across reporting layers

Work with large datasets and multiple data sources including SQL Server, flat files, and cloud sources

Develop and maintain documentation for datasets, logic, transformations, and reports

Support report publishing, workspace management, and governance activities

Required Skills & Qualifications:

5+ years of hands-on experience as a Power BI Developer

In-depth understanding of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and dataset configuration

Strong proficiency in SQL Server, complex SQL queries, joins, window functions, and data validation

Solid knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL flows, and data architecture

Experience performing root-cause analysis for data mismatches/discrepancies across systems

Proficient in DAX, data modeling, and performance tuning

Ability to work with large datasets and optimize model size and refresh times

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications (Optional):

Experience with Azure

Knowledge of Azure Data Factory or ETL tools

Familiarity with DevOps, version control, and deployment pipelines

Experience supporting governance, security, and workspace administration
