DOCSIS Test Engineer

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Role Overview:

As a DOCSIS Test Engineer, you will be responsible for testing and validating Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and associated back-end systems. This role supports both hardware and software validation efforts for DOCSIS devices, ensuring the reliability and performance of CPE in customer environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• CPE Testing & Validation:
  Validate DOCSIS CPE devices (e.g., modems, gateways, routers, eMTAs, OLTs, and set-top boxes) and their integration with Comcast's back-end systems.
• Wi-Fi & Wireless Client Validation:
  Perform validation of wireless clients within home networks, ensuring robust performance in varied use cases.
• Escalation Support:
  Act as a first-level escalation point for beta customer issues, providing in-depth technical troubleshooting and support.
• Field Triage & Beta Support:
  Support beta programs and field deployments by identifying, triaging, and resolving CPE issues.
• Engineering & Development:
  Collaborate with software and network engineering teams to develop and test new features or fixes.
• Documentation:
  Create, update, and maintain test plans, issue logs, and technical documentation.
• Agile Participation:
  Contribute to daily scrums and weekly bug review meetings, helping classify and prioritize bugs.
• Network Environment Setup:
  Establish and configure test environments per documented test plans for certification and performance validation.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  Work with product, development, and support teams to ensure complete coverage across certification and integration phases.

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with DOCSIS technology and devices
• Strong troubleshooting skills in network and wireless environments
• Familiarity with testing tools and scripting a plus (e.g., Wireshark, Python, etc.)
• Excellent documentation and communication skills
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
