What does a successful Sr. Data Architect do at Fiserv?

In this pivotal role, you'll collaborate across departments to design scalable, secure data solutions that power our industry-leading payment platform. What you will do:

  • Design and implement robust, scalable data architectures, including databases, operational data stores, and data warehouses to meet current and future business needs.
  • Develop and maintain data models (conceptual, logical, and physical), data integration frameworks, and database designs to support applications, analytics, and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and governance across the organization.
  • Participate in SDLC with product development teams to help design/approve data models and review/adjust/approve DDL and DML being executed in production, including query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Refactor existing database structures in Oracle, Couchbase, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Snowflake to support and segregate OLTP efficiently, reporting, batch processing, search, and data warehouse needs.
  • Participate in Technology Architecture Group (TAG) activities, including presenting and defending data architecture changes.


What you will need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and managing SQL and NoSQL databases, including full-text search capabilities.
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Oracle databases, including advanced Oracle database concepts.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL development.
  • Proven experience with data warehousing platforms and ETL/ELT processes.


What would be great to have:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with Couchbase, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Snowflake.
  • Background in the payment or financial services industry.
