Responsibilities

Noblis MSD's mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions' to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings. We are looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer to provide support to various ship programs for the US Navy.

The Mechanical Engineer position will design, evaluate, plan, test and operate mechanical equipment and systems for commercial, government, military and/or scientific uses. The candidate's primary duties and responsibilities include:
  • Creating mechanical designs and drawings
  • Writing precise calculations
  • Creating and testing prototypes for functionality
  • Re-engineering products when problems are found and recalculating for the return of products to full functionality
  • Preparing reports and documentation for leadership
  • Familiarity with CAD and other mechanical design software
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports for mechanical components in marine technologies
  • Identify, review and recommend necessary modifications to ensure product conforms to engineering design and performance specifications
  • Plan, coordinate, or monitor the selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, or operation and maintenance of marine components, ensuring optimal manufacturing or component performance

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related degree and 2 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering with an understanding of mechanical systems
  • with an active DoD security clearance at SECRET level
  • Experience with equipment design principles
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D engineering design & manufacturing tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or Pipe Flo)
  • Experience reviewing models and drawings for manufacturability of parts
  • Experience with documentation development including drawings, technical manuals (operation, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair), Bill of Materials
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
  • Familiarity military specifications for technical design

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with detailed specifications under configuration management
  • Experience interfacing directly with US military technical representatives
  • Experience working with equipment suppliers and vendors
  • Performed in Jira environment

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package.
