As a senior store designer, Environments & Catalog for North America Concepts, your role will involve directly contributing to the systems thinking approach to conceptualization and implementation of designs that enhance the physical and aspirational Starbucks experience. This encompasses contribution in Furniture, Finish, and Fixture design and innovation initiatives aimed at evolving our brand and supporting both our current portfolio and the expression and expansion of new stores for the North America business (inclusive of License and Canada Company Owned).

Your primary responsibility will be to lead the development and execution of design strategies and tactics, encompassing ideation, creation, collaboration, maintenance, and sustainment of our Catalog (Furniture, Finish, Fixtures, Lighting, Acoustics) that continually support item development, commercialization, and scalability. Additionally, you will ensure that all Catalog items adhere to and enhance brand standards and are relevant to our ecosystem, contributing to solutioning for our interior and exterior environments. You will play a vital role in a continuously evolving, design-focused brand that prioritizes fostering positive connections with partners and customers alike.

As a senior store designer, Environments & Catalog, you will...

Contribute to a systems thinking approach for designing influential products, projects, and programs that shape the entire Starbucks brand experience, integrating them seamlessly into our store portfolio and interior/exterior environments.

Lead and elevate FF&F design and Catalog curation to uphold global brand aspirations.

Drive a proactive, hands-on approach to enhance our scalable commercialization process, ensuring its effectiveness and impact.

Support category management and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sourcing, Planning, Strategy, Construction, Facilities and Regional Design representatives.

Foster an active and collaborative multi-disciplinary design culture, providing subject expertise, coaching, and stakeholder management while leading team members.

We'd love to hear from people with:

Minimum of 10 years of design experience in retail, hospitality, or restaurant design.

7-10 years of demonstrated contribution to design programs and projects, both individually and as part of a team, spanning.

5-7 years of experience managing direct reports and guiding individual career goals and development

Bachelor's degree or greater in either and/or Architecture, Interior Design, Experience Design, or Industrial Design required.

Strong systems thinking and holistic design approach, employing agile processes for successful outcomes.

Ability to manage through ambiguity, multitask, and prioritize decisions/deliverables with peers and stakeholders.

Ability to lead individuals and workstreams collaboratively or independently to achieve milestone deliverables.

Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership collaboration skills required.

Current knowledge and expertise in industry and generational trends related to retail store and restaurant hospitality design and lifestyle.

Familiarity with building codes, health codes, accessibility, inclusivity, and code compliance.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and passion for work and team.

Advanced Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD for production activities.

Advanced proficiency in SketchUp and 3D visualization activities.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Excel and Smartsheet.

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
