Job Details

Need a Automotive Lighting Design Engineer for our client.

Role Overview:

The Lead Automotive Lighting Design Engineer is responsible for the conceptualization, design, and development of innovative lighting systems for vehicles. This includes both exterior and interior lighting components, ensuring they meet functional, aesthetic, regulatory, and cost requirements. The role involves leadership in design execution, cross-functional collaboration, and integration of advanced technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development:
    • Lead the design of headlamps, tail lamps, DRLs, fog lamps, ambient lighting, and signature lighting elements.
    • Use CAD tools (e.g., CATIA V5/V6) to create detailed 3D models and design specifications.
    • Ensure designs align with vehicle architecture and brand identity.
  • Innovation & Technology Integration:
    • Research and integrate emerging lighting technologies such as LED, OLED, laser, and adaptive lighting systems.
    • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to validate design concepts.
  • Project Leadership:
    • Manage design timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time and cost-effective delivery.
    • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to select components and ensure manufacturability and quality.
  • Compliance & Testing:
    • Ensure all lighting designs comply with global automotive standards and regulations (e.g., ECE, SAE).
    • Support testing and validation of lighting systems for performance, safety, and durability.
  • Documentation & Communication:
    • Prepare technical documentation including design drawings, specifications, and test plans.
    • Present design concepts and progress to internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering.
  • 8 12 years of experience in automotive lighting design and development.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA V5/V6) and PLM systems.
  • Strong understanding of lighting optics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with lighting simulation tools and photometric analysis.
  • Familiarity with global automotive lighting regulations.
  • Exposure to full vehicle development cycles and cross-functional collaboration.
