Job Title: AS400 / RPG Developer
Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite/Hybrid)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled AS400 / RPG Developer to join our team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have strong experience developing, maintaining, and supporting applications on the IBM iSeries (AS400) platform using RPG, CL, and DB2/400. You ll collaborate with business analysts and other developers to deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient business solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain applications using RPG IV / RPGLE, CLLE, and DB2/400 on the AS400 (iSeries) platform.
Analyze user requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
Perform unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of applications.
Optimize existing code and database performance.
Support production environments, ensuring high availability and quick resolution of issues.
Work closely with cross-functional teams including business users, analysts, and QA testers.
Create and maintain technical documentation.

Required Skills & Experience:

5+ years of experience in AS400 / iSeries development.
Strong expertise in RPGLE, CLLE, DB2/400, SQLRPGLE, and ILE concepts.
Hands-on experience with subfiles, service programs, and APIs.
Experience in performance tuning and debugging.
Familiarity with change management tools (TurnOver, Aldon, or similar).
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.

Nice to Have:

Experience with modernization projects or integration with web services/APIs.
Exposure to insurance, healthcare, or manufacturing domains.
Understanding of agile methodologies.
