Experienced cybersecurity engineer with 8 or more years of professional working knowledge and background in network security principles, standards, and technology evaluation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Provides secure network architecture design strategies, capacity management/data coverage planning, implementation of new network feature capabilities, test and evaluation, and operational support.

Has specialized knowledge in the design and evaluation of cybersecurity applications supporting IP, DNS, Mobility 4G/5G Network Cloud, and VoIP with strong emphasis on data analysis and automated algorithms for threat detection.

Leads the design and implementation of firewall rules, secure routing/forwarding configurations utilizing encryption, and device hardening measures for systems as part of cybersecurity data analysis architectures.

Provides leadership support role across various teams including project managers for planning and scheduling, systems engineers to identify requirements, architects to develop solutions to meet user requirements and security policies, coordination/integration of system features with software developers and internal/external customers, and operations to identify and resolve production network issues while maintaining high availability of platform services.

Performs testing of developed code and platforms, design and review of system test plans, implementation of automated test and installation scripts, and execution of System Test (ST), User Acceptance Test (UAT), and Operations Readiness Test (ORT) for successfully managing production deployments.

Leads the design, development, and execution of test automation across the team for performing code verification of software applications and feature functionality according to input specifications and analyst requirements.

Provides strategic direction for the test design execution and incorporates traffic simulators with attack replay scenarios for verification of data processing, generation of custom metadata, and application of cybersecurity algorithms as part of repeatable automated processes.

Performs extensive analysis and comparisons of processed protocol packets and generated metadata output as part of enhanced validation methods to ensure data integrity as required for analyst investigations.

Demonstrates and leverages extensive knowledge of testing design, approach, and analysis principles to easily identify and resolve defects early in the test cycle for ensuring delivery of high-quality software applications meeting security analyst needs.

Reviews and provides recommendations to enhance application quality including methods to reduce and resolve security vulnerabilities.

Documents test case methods and procedures maintaining across releases to guarantee thorough understanding of feature functionality and allow re-use for consistency in verification of results.

Works closely with Network Operations and Customer Support teams on production applications and services to support software release deployments, incorporate key operational procedures, develop/present training overview sessions, and troubleshoot/resolve complex network and customer related issues.

Develops and integrates automation in processes for installations and execution of maintenance procedures to minimize system downtime and reduce configuration errors for continued successful operation of the platform.

Ensures security compliance as part of configuration management and patching support for vulnerability protection.

Applies best practices and incorporates new concepts for advancing/improving existing methods and procedures.

Mentors team members on establishing processes/procedures and gives guidance on secure network architecture design and test strategy from proof-of-concept phase to production deployment.

Supports the design/prototyping of platforms and cybersecurity applications for future technology strategies for large-scale distributed network architectures, identifying opportunities for greater cost effectiveness while improving overall system processing capability and efficiency.

Preferred education is a Bachelor or Master of Science degree in the field of Computers, Software, Engineering, or Cybersecurity. Security certifications also preferred.

Technical skills and background include:

Detailed knowledge of UNIX/Linux systems.

Detailed knowledge of system design and test/evaluation principles.

Detailed knowledge of network protocols (IP/TCP/UDP/ICMP/DNS/SIP/Mobility GTP/PFCP).

Detailed knowledge of programming with shell/AWK/Python/Perl.

Detailed knowledge of relational databases and Hadoop preferred.

Application of security policies, traffic filtering/forwarding techniques, intrusion detection, device hardening and data encryption (transit and at-rest).

Ability to perform traffic analysis, investigation, and troubleshooting for security related events.

Detailed knowledge of multi-vendor devices such as servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and packet monitoring/inspection as part of a secure network architecture.

Detailed knowledge of IP/Mobility data flow and session-based system transactions.

Detailed knowledge of "Big Data" platforms and large-scale, distributed network security architectures.

Detailed knowledge in the design and implementation of network security monitoring services, automation, threat analysis and detection, and packet analysis tools.

Knowledge of Agile processes.
