Summary
The GIS Analyst/Specialist/Engineer will support the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Value Realization Department in advancing data-driven initiatives across agencies. The position focuses on improving data quality, developing GIS applications, and supporting rail engineering projects through technical, analytical, and programming expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, analyze, and maintain GIS datasets using ESRI technologies (ArcGIS Server, Portal, ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise).
Write Python and SQL code to automate data processing, perform geospatial and statistical analysis, and generate actionable insights.
Apply data quality controls and validation to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Build interactive dashboards and visualizations (Power BI, GIS maps, web apps, reports) to communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
Break down complex business and engineering problems into manageable technical tasks.
Document workflows, data models, and analytical processes per departmental standards.
Collaborate across divisions to support enterprise data integration, analytics, and asset management initiatives.
Stay current with emerging GIS technologies, data analytics methods, and programming techniques.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience supporting ESRI GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise, Portal, Experience Builder, Survey123).
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL (R or Java a plus).
Proficiency in database design, data management, and analytical methods (statistics, algorithm design).
Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and advanced Excel.
Understanding of transportation systems (preferably subway, bus, and railroad networks).
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills capable of translating technical findings for non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Information Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
