Job Details
We are looking for a Business Analyst / Product Owner (BA/PO) with strong expertise in the U.S. Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain. The ideal candidate should understand the full insurance value chain from quoting and underwriting to policy servicing and compliance and be able to convert complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements for technology teams in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to align on scope, priorities, and deliverables.
- Manage and prioritize the product backlog, defining and refining user stories and epics based on business value.
- Gather and document requirements through interviews, workshops, and JAD sessions (BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows).
- Collaborate with underwriting, product, operations, and compliance teams to ensure accurate business and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with development and QA teams to define acceptance criteria, clarify requirements, and support testing cycles.
- Assist in UAT planning and execution, reviewing test cases and validating outcomes.
- Support MVP definition, product roadmap planning, and release prioritization.
- Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and propose data-driven improvements.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and demos.
- Ensure deliverables meet compliance, regulatory, and operational standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Deep knowledge of the U.S. P&C insurance domain, including products, processes, and regulations.
- Experience across the policy lifecycle quoting, underwriting, binding, issuance, servicing, endorsements, and renewals.
- Strong understanding of underwriting, rating, and product configuration.
- Expertise in creating BRDs, FRDs, use cases, user stories, and process documentation.
- Hands-on experience in Agile/Scrum, managing and prioritizing backlogs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience with commercial and specialty lines insurers preferred.
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory standards in insurance.
- Proficiency with tools like JIRA, Confluence, Miro, and MS Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in insurance platform modernization or digital transformation projects.
- Experience working with onshore/offshore teams.
- Background in data-driven insurance, analytics, or workflow automation.
- Certifications such as CSPO, CBAP, or IIBA-AAC are a plus.
