Location: Herndon, VA (Onsite - 3days/week)
Duration: 12+ months contract
Job Description
This position is for a large software client. The Senior Systems Cloud Administrator will be responsible for the overall evaluation, design and daily operation of the Corporate IT SAS (Server and Application Services) environment. This role serves as a "hands-on" server administrator who evaluates complex system requirements and then designs, implements and maintains the most efficient solutions. This role will develop and document technical standards, identify and evaluate new products, interface with vendors to purchase new hardware and software, and collaborate with other IT teams to provide guidance to resolve system and application issues. The Senior Systems Cloud Administrator will be directly responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, patching, maintenance and monitoring of the SAS environment across the entire Enterprise, while ensuring compliance to various security and encryption protocols for U.S. national security. Key deliverables for success will be: ensuring 100% availability of the environment; implementing fault and performance management; enforcing corporate network, system and application security procedures.
Must-Have Skills
- 5+ years in IT enterprise System/Cloud Administration
- Expert-level Azure Administration
- Senior-level Windows Administration (AD, DNS, Group Policy)
- Strong Linux Admin skills (SUSE, RedHat, CentOS troubleshooting/patching)
- 4+ years scripting (PowerShell, Bash)
- Experience with Ansible deployments
- Firewall experience
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's in Computer Science
- Certifications: MCSE, MCITP, Azure (AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-303/304)
- Experience with SEIM tools, backups, monitoring tools
- Familiarity with NIST 800-53 rev 4 or other security best practices
Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, patch, upgrade, and monitor corporate IT SAS (Server & Application Services) environment
- Create/maintain documentation: performance monitoring, troubleshooting, capacity planning, change management, escalation/SLAs
- Incident management: diagnosis, corrective action, root cause analysis
- Manage server/application diagrams, workflows, and vendor relationships
- Support vulnerability management, security compliance, and 24/7 support model
- Serve as SME to Infrastructure teams (Cloud Ops, Cyber Security, Sys Admin)
- Lead system analysis/design activities, ensuring availability, scalability, and security
