Job Title:- Fire Protection Design Engineer

Job Location:- Monrovia, CA (Los Angeles area-Hybrid)

Full Time

Key Responsibilities

• Lead fire protection system design from project kickoff through final delivery
• Conduct fire protection engineering studies, inspections, calculations, and system analyses
• Design and sustain fire service mains, fire pumps, distribution systems, suppression systems, gas extinguishing systems, and fire alarm/life safety systems
• Prepare detailed drawings, technical specifications, and design documentation using AutoCAD and fire protection design software
• Participate in design reviews, construction inspections, and system testing/commissioning
• Interface with AHJs and clients to address compliance questions and resolve design issues
• Perform site surveys, identify code deficiencies, and recommend compliant solutions
• Support new construction, upgrades, and expansion projects across DSN facilities worldwide
• Create requisitions and support vendor procurement and purchase order approvals
• Provide technical reports, audits, and recommendations to ensure compliance and operational readiness
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations (NFPA, NASA, OSHA, NEC, NPR, etc.)
• Provide peer reviews and technical guidance to team members
• Deliver remote technical support and field assistance as required
• Participate in professional organizations such as SFPE and NFPA

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Fire Protection Engineering preferred) or equivalent relevant experience
• 8 10+ years of hands-on fire protection design experience (10+ years strongly preferred)
• Active Fire Protection Professional Engineer (PE) license (California preferred; must be transferable if licensed in another state)
• Demonstrated experience producing design calculations, drawings, and system specifications
• Strong working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, including NFPA 13, 70, 72, and 2001
• Experience with fire alarm, suppression, detection, and fire water distribution systems
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and fire sprinkler design software
• Experience conducting plan reviews and interfacing with AHJs
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in high-security environments
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)
• Experience supporting government, aerospace, defense, or utility infrastructure projects
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite and MS Project
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a high-performing engineering team

Security Clearance

• Ability to pass a trusted background investigation and National Criminal Information Check (NCIC)
• U.S. Citizenship required for clearance eligibility
