Onsite are roles that have specific onsite requirements and are typically onsite daily.

Hybrid fixed are roles that are a blend of onsite work/in-person interactions with some ability to work remotely and require employees to live within a commutable distance and be onsite fixed days each week.

Hybrid flexible are roles that can be performed remotely but require some level of onsite work/in-person interactions on a regular basis, require employees to live within a commutable distance and, since business needs vary by position and may change over time, managers will set expectations and flexibility regarding where and when work is performed.

Fully remote are roles that can be performed remotely, require employees to live in approved states and will have purpose-driven in-person interactions on occasion.

Job Summary

This job involves working as an engineer in the Gas Planning & Design organization, utilizing a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience. Engineer will be responsible for working with others to support technical needs of the Appliance Service business covering gas utility field services and Worry-free appliance repair work performed by Appliance Service technicians.

Job Responsibilities
Evaluate, test and select new tools and equipment for use by over 800 service technicians throughout the business.
Coordinate evaluation and testing of tools and equipment to ensure operating according to specifications.
Solve technical problems, investigate and perform root cause analysis of equipment/material failures and develop corrective action plans.
Update and revise technical manuals based on policies and procedures, manufacturer information and industry standards and practices.
Participate on teams to develop new products and services.
Perform research and development for evaluating new technology products and services.
Assist technical training in determining training needs and participate in development of training courses.
Set methods for performing updates of Technical Support database programs (i.e., Parts Identification Manual, Service Instruction Manual, Appliance Service SharePoint site, Manufacturer Technical Information Library, etc.).
Coordinate roll out of new technology programs with various departments within the company.
Interact with trade associations that influence industry codes, standards and practices.
Monitor emergency response drills performed by Gas Operations field personnel.
Interact with customers/contractors to resolve service related issues.
Promote safe working practices to be performed by Gas Operations Field personnel.
As an employee of PSE&G, you should be aware that during storm/outage restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and your regular work schedule.
You may also be required to work in an alternate location.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Minimum 2 years of engineering professional experience
Demonstrated computer skills in MS Office applications
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
Demonstrated leadership skills, professionalism and customer/client focus
Demonstrated effective problem-solving, creativity in research and decision-making skills, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and results-oriented.
Developed written and verbal communications skills
Must be willing to work storm duty and support operations as needed
Must possess a valid US driver's license and maintain safe driving record.
Desired Skills
Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) grid impact and interconnection requirements.
Electric vehicle, non-wire solutions, energy storage, microgrid knowledge.
Knowledge of electric transmission and distribution operations, familiarity with inside/outside plant assets and operations experience.
Working knowledge of power flow, electric rates, SCADA, load forecast and load relief.

Desired Skills
Experience with gas utility facilities e.g. pipelines, regulators, meters.
Experience in gas/electric appliance installation and repair.
Experience in working on gas facility designs, layout, and system modeling analyses.
Advanced technical degree/training/certification, Six Sigma, EIT or P.E license.
Familiarity with gas utility best practices, Federal, NJ Administrative, and ASME pressure piping codes and Company tariff.
Experience in gas distribution and/or transmission engineering and operations, corrosion control, facility design, pipelines, pressure control, network analysis.
Knowledge of GIS.
