Position: Field Service Technician Level 1 (Vegetation Management & Network Support)
Location: Crows Landing, CA 95313

Job Description
This entry-level Field Service Technician Level 1 role combines outdoor vegetation management at solar sites with basic network support and equipment maintenance. The position is ideal for candidates who are hands-on, comfortable working outdoors, and interested in growing into telecommunications or solar operations roles.
You will support senior technicians with equipment installs and maintenance, while taking ownership of vegetation management tasks such as herbicide application, mowing, and basic equipment servicing.
Key Duties
- Assist with installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of network and field equipment (under senior technician guidance).
- Maintain site security, cleanliness, and safe work practices at solar facilities.
- Perform vegetation management tasks at Proxima / Paulsell Solar, including:
- Herbicide application (following safety and handling procedures).
- Mowing and vegetation control around arrays and equipment.
- Servicing light equipment (mowers, trimmers, small tools).
- Safely towing and positioning trailers on-site.
- Help track spares, replace defective modules, and support preventative maintenance activities.
- Maintain basic technical and service documentation as instructed.
Telecom / Fiber Scope (as trained or assigned)
- Assist with installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment such as fiber transmission gear, multiplexers, channel banks, and DC power equipment.
- Learn fundamentals of SONET/Ethernet-based systems and use of personal computers and common software for basic configuration and reporting.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 0 5 years of field experience (telecom, solar, utilities, landscaping, or similar mechanical/field work).
- Ability to read work orders, basic circuit diagrams, and follow written procedures.
Preferred Attributes
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Safe driver, with experience towing small trailers preferred.
- Mechanically inclined and willing to learn tools, equipment, and basic networking concepts.
