Job Description
Provide technical work in the detailed cost estimating, project management, designing, materials procurement and construction of substation additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system. Apply established engineering standards and practices in the design of new substation facilities. Prepare specifications, drawings and contracts. Provide substation technical assistance to other areas within MidAmerican Energy Company. Provide project management for a portion or all phases of substation project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system, including cost estimating, scheduling, materials procurement, resource management and coordination, cost tracking and cost projections. This is an entry level skill position in substation engineering.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system. (45%) Provide technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. (40%) Conduct technical studies and investigations and prepare oral and written reports. (10%) Provide technical assistance to other departments. (5%) Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques. " Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable operation of the electric transmission and distribution system.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a technical related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) Three years related work experience. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
