We are searching for the best talent for Staff Software Engineer, Robotics R&D to be in Boston, MA.

The Staff Software Engineer, Robotics R&D will be a key supporting role in the team on the forefront of robotics technology for the orthopedic medical device industry. This role will support the VELYS Robotics R&D team with all aspects of the product development process. The candidate for this role is a strong collaborator that takes the time to understand the project scope in order to drive product improvements and efficiently generate technical documentation.

In this role, you will lead and execute various VELYS Robotics software projects. Emphasis will be on delivering projects on-time, within budget in a compliant and reliable manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extend and enhance an existing complex software system.
  • Update and enhance APIs and SQL Databases.
  • Use standard methodologies for building Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) technologies under Design Control procedures.
  • Translate requirements into application features and document architecture and design decisions.
  • Design, develop, and debug software for complex, multi-process systems.
  • Implement client-side, server-side, and database software.
  • Design and implement interfaces for data exchange with other systems.
  • Create and monitor technical aspects of the project.
  • Analyze and evaluate new technologies, recommending improvements to existing products.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Strong Embedded C, C++ skills
  • Extensive application development experience developing medical devices.
  • Proficiency in Qt Framework
  • Proficient developer of System Architectures
  • Experience in Test Bench development, including creation of test plans/procedures
  • Experience with cross-functional new product development teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical device development following industry standards - IEC 62304, IEC 13485, ISRO 14971
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity

Preferred:
  • Ability to work independently and understand existing code/systems with minimal ramp-up time.
  • Agile development background.
  • Experience with Cybersecurity frameworks and vulnerability assessments
  • Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript.
  • Documentation skills in a highly regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of secure development practices and security testing.
  • Knowledge of software tool best practices - GIT, Jira, Static Analysis and SAST

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$105,000 to $169,000 annually

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
