DPP is seeking a Linux System Administrator for a direct hire opportunity in Mount Airy, NC.

Position description:
  • As the Linux System Administrator, you will manage all Linux-based systems and enterprise applications across the organization, including Oracle ERP and IBM Mainframe.
  • You ll be responsible for maintaining system stability, application performance, and supporting end users and teams that rely on these platforms.
  • You ll assist with the administration of the Oracle database environment.
  • You ll also serve as second-tier support for issues within their domain.
  • Evaluating, recommending, and supporting technologies that align with the organization's current and future operational goals is also part of the role.
Responsibilities include:
  • Carrying out responsibilities in accordance with the organization s policies and applicable laws.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Installs, configures, monitors, and maintains Linux servers and services in a multi-site, hybrid environment. Performs system upgrades, patching, and security hardening. Recommends solutions and technologies to improve performance, scalability, and reliability. (15%)
  • Works with Oracle Linux KVM virtualization to provision, manage, and troubleshoot virtual machines that support the Oracle database and ERP application environments. (5%)
  • Provides technical support for enterprise applications, including Oracle ERP and IBM Maximo. Works with application owners and end users to troubleshoot performance and integration issues. Coordinates with vendors and internal teams to support patching, upgrades, and configuration changes. (20%)
  • Assists with Oracle database administration, including monitoring, backups, user management, and performance tuning. Manages routine database tasks. (15%)
  • Assists with maintaining RedHat OpenShift clusters, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and deploying containerized applications. Works with outside contractor teams to ensure platform stability. (10%)
  • Implements and maintains automation scripts and system tools to streamline routine tasks such as patching, monitoring, and deployment. Maintains system documentation, including runbooks, diagrams, and procedures. (15%)
  • Manages access and security controls for Linux systems and enterprise applications. Supports account provisioning and deprovisioning, and ensures compliance with internal policies and standards. (5%)
  • Collaborates with other IT staff, including Windows administrators, DBA, and Service Desk personnel, to resolve cross-functional issues and maintain service continuity across platforms. (5%)
  • Stays current on Linux technologies, enterprise applications trends, and system security best practices. Participates in audits and contributes to continuous improvement of IT services. (5%)
  • Works closely with the Service Desk and other Operations staff to analyze problems and provide solutions in areas where their positions overlap. (5%)
  • Works with some confidential data which, if disclosed, might have adverse internal or minor external effect.
Education and experience required:
  • Professional, technical or administrative training (2-year Associate degree) in Computer Science or related field, with a Bachelor s degree highly desirable, working knowledge of components in a computer
  • A minimum of two (2) years work-related experience is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.
