Job Title: L2 Voice Technician
Location: Onsite Lynn, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Level 2 Phone Technician to support day-to-day voice and network infrastructure operations at our Lynn, MA campus. This onsite role is essential in ensuring reliable communications systems and cabling infrastructure across the facility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with analog and VoIP phone systems, structured cabling, and basic network support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Moves, Adds, and Changes (MAC) for analog and VoIP telephone systems.
- Execute MACs for voicemail services, including setup and troubleshooting.
- Install, terminate, and test physical network jacks as part of MAC work.
- Connect cabling on Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDFs) to designated switch ports, following network engineering instructions.
- Provide 8x5 physical on-site break/fix support for infrastructure components including:
- Telephones (analog and VoIP)
- Cabling and jacks
- Wireless Access Points (WAPs)
- Wiring closets
- Install, monitor, and maintain Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) equipment in wiring closets, including battery replacement at end-of-life.
- Build and repair wiring closet infrastructure including equipment racks, patch panels, LIUs, and cable management systems.
- Run and test cabling from IDF closets to designated office locations as needed.
- Serve as on-site escort for vendor personnel (e.g., Verizon) addressing network issues.
- Coordinate wiring and cabling tasks with third-party vendors to support campus initiatives.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues with General Electric (GE) personnel across the Lynn campus.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in telecommunications, network cabling, or infrastructure support.
- Proficient in MAC operations for both analog and VoIP phone systems.
- Familiarity with patch panels, IDF/MDF environments, and structured cabling standards.
- Experience with UPS systems and routine battery maintenance is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to follow instructions from network engineering teams.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical duties including climbing ladders and working in wiring closets.
Work Environment:
- This is a full-time onsite role based in Lynn, MA, Monday through Friday, with occasional flexibility required for urgent support or project-based needs.
- Some work may require coordination with vendors and internal teams outside standard business hours.
