Location: Chicago, IL (60611) / Expected travel 50 70% for client site installations and maintenance

Job Description
Talent Groups is seeking a Field Service Engineer with expertise in IPTV and Coax to join our technology team. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining IPTV and Coax TV systems, including headend appliances and multicast streaming. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, deep network knowledge, and the ability to work independently while traveling extensively.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain IPTV and Coax TV systems, including headend appliances (Anevia, UCrypt) and multicast streaming.
- Provision and troubleshoot Android-based media players and tablets (Wetek, VLC, ExoPlayer).
- Perform in-room testing and validation of IPTV and Coax signals using IGMP protocols and diagnostic tools.
- Validate TV interface commands such as power and volume controls.
- Support DRM integration and content encryption (Pro:Idiom, Swank, Swift Media).
- Conduct site surveys, hardware installations, and preventative maintenance.
- Diagnose and resolve issues across IP and coaxial networks.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Account Management, and Professional Services teams.
- Document technical changes and resolutions; contribute to the internal knowledge base.
- Train customer support teams on system usage and troubleshooting.
- Escalate critical issues to ensure timely resolution.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3 5 years of hands-on experience with IPTV, Coax TV, and network infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of multicast/unicast protocols, IGMPv2/v3, and headend configurations
- Proficiency with Android OS, ExoPlayer, VLC, and DRM systems
- Experience coding within media player environments (customizing ExoPlayer or VLC)
- Familiarity with HDMI CEC, MPI, and other TV interface protocols
- Knowledge of network diagnostics, QoS monitoring, and remote support tools
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and travel 50 70% monthly
- Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent
- Experience with IPTV headend systems such as Anevia or VITEC
- Understanding of coaxial tuning, DVB standards, and hybrid OTT/IPTV/DVB setups
- Experience with hardware integration in healthcare or hospitality is a plus
