Description

This senior engineering position requires extensive hands-on experience in configuring, operating, and maintaining a large enterprise infrastructure to deliver, update, and patch software applications. The infrastructure consists of multiple physical and virtual windows servers utilizing MS Configuration Manager (MCM) and WSUS to deliver software to hundreds of Distribution Points (DP). The candidate will be part of team responsible for delivering software updates and patches as well as providing Tier 3 support to system administrators and end users.

The position will have a hybrid telework arrangement with on-site presence a minimum of two days a week, at a secure government facility within the Washington DC metropolitan area. Work schedule will be Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Work location and schedule are subject to change based on government requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting MCM related infrastructures and services.
  • Installing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting SQL instances. Using T-SQL to create reporting on MCM status and performance.
  • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting WSUS servers.
  • Managing and maintaining physical hardware and associated networking components.
  • Configuring, operating and maintaining MS SCOM for system performance monitoring.
  • Configure, operate and maintain MS Delivery Optimization (DO) and MS Connected Cache (MCC).
  • Creating and managing GPOs; creating and managing associated objects in Active Directory.
  • Creating scripts using PowerShell to perform tasks related to MCM management and configuration.
  • Delivery of software packages to DPs.
  • The team also supports Cybersecurity and Incident Response related packaging and deployment efforts.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
  • BS degree in a computer science/computer engineering related discipline and 9 years of experience; MS degree & 7 years; may accept additional experience in lieu of degree.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience with SCCM/MCM, WSUS, T-SQL, and system management of Windows-based OS.
  • 3 to 5 years of patch management experience with Microsoft products, i.e. Windows Update Agent, Microsoft Entra, and WSUS.
  • MCM/Entra hands on experience (ability to leverage console, create objects and troubleshoot issues).
  • Hands on experience with configuring, installing, operating, and maintaining SCOM servers.
  • Scripting language experience, specifically PowerShell.
  • GPO administration and Active Directory experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting and managing Windows Operating Systems, WMI, and client agent administration.
  • SQL experience.
  • Hands on experience in configuring and operating MS DO and MCC.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
