Job Description:
Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Google Cloud Platform Engineer to join our Observability team, responsible for building, modernizing, and scaling observability solutions across cloud-native and hybrid environments. The role focuses on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) while also extending to Kubernetes (GKE, AKS, EKS) and private cloud.
You will design and implement cutting-edge solutions for telemetry, metrics, logs, and distributed tracing to improve system reliability, performance, and security. This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with software engineering, SRE, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver automation-driven observability platforms that support development and operations at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and modernize observability platforms in public and private cloud environments (Google Cloud Platform, AKS, EKS).
- Build, configure, and automate logging, monitoring, and telemetry solutions, including dashboards, alerts, and CI/CD integration.
- Partner with development, SRE, and security teams to operationalize observability data for reliability, performance, compliance, and incident management.
- Promote best practices for observability standards and drive adoption across engineering teams.
- Lead knowledge transfer, mentoring, and upskilling sessions with client teams.
- Participate in on-call rotations as required to support critical systems.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in Observability, Logging, and Monitoring within enterprise-scale environments.
- Hands-on expertise with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Cortex, Tempo, ElasticSearch, Datadog, Splunk, or similar observability tools.
- Strong experience with containers (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, GKE, AKS, EKS).
- Proficiency in configuring dashboards, alerts, and alarms in Grafana and/or Google Cloud Platform Monitoring.
- Solid experience in automation and integration of observability into CI/CD pipelines using Python, Bash, Terraform, JSON, YAML, or similar tools.
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and databases (MySQL, DB2, MSSQL, etc.).
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture and service delivery components (application servers, databases, APIs, storage, networking, and security).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with distributed tracing and application instrumentation.
- Programming skills in Python, Java, or Go.
- Knowledge of log parsing, regex, and data extraction techniques.
- Familiarity with APM (Application Performance Management) tools and DevOps automation frameworks.
- Exposure to multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
- Understanding of enterprise architecture concepts such as 3-tier systems, HA/DR, and active-active data centers.
