Job Details

Candidates must have experience with Buying and Planning and have strong negotiations skills. They must have experience with SAP, and a good working knowledge of raw materials sourcing. Prior Chemical industry background and Manufacturing background is preferred

Role Description

The Supply Chain Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of supply chain strategy, including demand planning, production scheduling, inventory management, procurement, and supplier performance.

This leader will ensure efficient material flow, optimize costs, and align supply chain activities with business goals.

The role requires both strategic vision and hands-on leadership, supporting continuous improvement, Lean initiatives, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead supply chain operations including demand planning, supply planning, production scheduling, procurement, inventory control, and logistics.

- Translate sales forecasts into actionable production and purchasing plans while ensuring service levels are met.

- Facilitate monthly Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings.

- Implement Lean planning techniques and drive continuous improvement in supply chain processes.

- Monitor and optimize inventory parameters, safety stock, and material requirements to balance service and working capital goals.

- Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, terms, and delivery performance; identify and qualify new suppliers when needed.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, finance, operations, engineering, quality) to align supply chain strategy with business objectives.

- Manage warehousing strategies, logistics coordination, and reverse logistics/recycling programs.

- Lead and develop a high-performing team, promoting accountability, efficiency, and engagement.

Qualifications:


- Bachelor s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field required.

- Minimum 5 years of logistics and supply chain management experience in a multi-plant manufacturing environment.

- Strong knowledge of demand planning, forecasting, MRP, production scheduling, and inventory management.

- Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence at all organizational levels.

- Advanced analytical and Excel/Access skills; experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP or JDE preferred).

- APICS certification a plus.

- Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
