As a SecOps Engineer, you will be responsible for providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 operational support for the company's network security, endpoint security, enterprise logging, and cyber ops platforms. This includes triaging issues, solving problems, resolving incidents, and driving continuous improvement through automation and process optimization. What You'll Do

Incident, Problem, and Issue Management

  • Triage and resolve incidents, problems and operational issues across security platforms.

  • Perform root cause analysis, implement workarounds and preventive measures.

  • Raise complex issues to Tier 3 support teams following defined processes.

  • Assist with major incident management, communication and post-incident reviews.

Operational Support and Administration

  • Provide Tier 1/2 support for routine tasks like deployment, configuration, patching and upgrades.

  • Implement operational runbooks, maintenance activities and health checks across platforms.

  • Monitor system availability, performance metrics and error conditions.

  • Implement approved changes following change management processes.

Automation and Tooling

  • Assist with developing automation scripts and workflows to increase operational efficiency.

  • Find opportunities and drive initiatives to automate routine tasks and processes.

  • Evaluate and implement tools for log analysis, reporting, monitoring and administration.

Knowledge Management and Documentation

  • Document procedures, following steps and remediation actions in knowledge bases.

  • Supply training materials, runbooks and user documentation.

  • Promote knowledge sharing across the team through mentoring and knowledge transfers.

Process Improvement

  • Analyze recurring issues, support tickets and operational data to identify improvement areas.

  • Propose and implement process optimizations and preventive measures.

  • Assist with testing and enablement of new tools, technologies and operational capabilities.

Collaborator Coordination

  • Effectively communicate with internal teams like security engineering and vendors.

  • Provide updates and coordinate maintenance/change activities.

  • Gather operational requirements and represent the operations team in planning sessions.

How You'll Succeed

  • Proficient with security technologies (e.g., IDS/IPS, advanced encryption standards).

  • Manage security projects (e.g., endpoint protection rollouts, new tool deployments).

  • Coach team members on security tools.

  • Streamline security processes (e.g., simplifying log onboarding tasks).

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in and attending school, pursuing a master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering/Technology, Information Technology, Security or another relevant computer and technical program with expected graduation by August 2026.

  • Completion of the 2025 Lilly technology summer internship.

Desired Experience

  • Experience in technology operations, system/network administration, or security operations.

  • Hands-on technical experience with network security, endpoint security, logging, and security tooling.

  • Scripting abilities in languages like Python, PowerShell, Bash for automation tasks.

  • Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom.

  • Knowledge of IT service management processes, incident management, and change management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment, multi-task, and meet SLA commitments.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of security principles, networks, operating systems, and cloud computing.

  • Certifications like A+, Network+, Security+ etc. are a plus.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$100,000

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
