Job Details

A local company is hiring for a Technical Writer to join their team. This role is centered on producing accurate, clear, and well-structured technical documentation while also improving the tools and processes used to manage it. The position requires working with large, complex files and converting them into editable, user-friendly formats that meet industry standards. Writers with programming or scripting experience will have the opportunity to automate and streamline workflows, making this a great role for someone who enjoys blending writing with technical problem-solving.

This is a fulltime onsite role.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 2+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree

Required Skills & Experience
  • 2+ years of technical writing experience creating and editing professional documentation
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and PDF formats
  • Experience handling large-volume documentation, including 600+ page PDFs
  • Knowledge of documentation revision/version control processes
  • Familiarity with ISO standards for documentation

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience with templating and programming (BVA or Visual Studio for Office strongly preferred)
  • Python scripting for automation and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) workflows
  • Ability to streamline document conversion processes for efficiency and accuracy
  • Aerospace, defense, or other regulated industry documentation experience
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in technical content

What You Will Be Doing

Daily Responsibilities
  • Converting large PDF documents into Word and ensuring format and content accuracy
  • Creating, reviewing, and editing technical documents for clarity and compliance
  • Developing and applying templates, standards, and style guides
  • Automating document workflows using Python or other scripting tools
  • Collaborating with engineering teams to ensure documentation supports current systems and requirements
