Equities Front Office Developer
Location: New York City (2 3 days/week onsite, local candidates strongly preferred)
Duration: 6 months (likely extension; potential conversion to full-time)

Overview
Our client, a leading foreign bank, is seeking a Senior Equities Front Office Developer with strong Java expertise and hands-on experience supporting trading desks in the equities financing and derivatives space. The ideal candidate will partner closely with traders, quants, and risk teams to design, enhance, and maintain mission-critical trading platforms.
This is a front office role requiring both deep technical skills and the ability to collaborate directly with business stakeholders in a fast-paced trading environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain equities trading applications using Java.
  • Partner directly with trading desks, quants, and risk teams to deliver front-office solutions.
  • Enhance and support mission-critical platforms (Order Management, Stock Loan, Market Data).
  • Implement solutions for equities, equity derivatives, and swaps workflows (including FIX protocol).
  • Apply DevSecOps best practices (CI/CD, automated testing, observability).
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure stability, scalability, and performance of systems.
  • Contribute to platform modernization (cloud, AI/ML, containerization).

Required Skills
  • 5+ years of Java development (preferably in capital markets / financial services).
  • Strong understanding of equities trading, derivatives, and financing workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with trading platforms and front-office applications.
  • Experience with FIX protocol.
  • Familiarity with Spring/Hibernate frameworks, messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake).
  • Strong grasp of DevSecOps tools & methodologies (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible, SonarQube, Invicti, Tenable, PuppetLabs).
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of both backend (Java) and frontend (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) development.
  • Proficiency with Git and Agile development practices.
  • Excellent multitasking, organizational, and communication skills.

Good to Have
  • Experience with Nuvo Prime and/or SwapOne platforms.
  • Experience with Murex or other leading trading systems (Quod, FlexTrade, Charles River).
  • Exposure to AI/ML platforms (e.g., DL4J).
  • Familiarity with Elastic Search, Kibana, Splunk.
  • Knowledge of quantitative analysis, pricing models, and P&L calculations.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Understanding of risk, compliance, and regulatory frameworks in equities trading.

Additional Information
  • Work Arrangement: 2 3 days onsite in NYC; final interview will be onsite (after 2 3 video rounds, including coding test).
  • Level: Senior candidates only.
