Job Details
Rack and stack, install cisco switches 9400 so physical work at Indiana University Health - semi construction zone, flu vaccine required, steel toe shoes/hard hat environment.
Location: 1555 North Capitol Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46202
Active Construction site: Required to wear steel or composite toed shoes when on the job site.
Parking: parking garage that is free but it first comes first serve hopefully with new construction, there will be plenty of spots.
We are seeking a competent Mid-Level Network Engineer to join our team for a one-year project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation (rack and stack) of Cisco switches, the removal of outdated switches, and coordination with a disposal team to ensure proper disposal of decommissioned equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute rack and stack of Cisco switches in various facilities, ensuring proper installation and configuration.
Remove and decommission old network switches, ensuring accurate documentation and labeling.
Coordinate with the disposal team to manage the disposal of decommissioned equipment in compliance with company policies and environmental regulations.
Assist in conducting network assessments and provide input for improvements.
Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new network components.
Troubleshoot and resolve network issues related to the installation and removal of switches.
Maintain accurate records of network configurations and changes.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on Cisco technologies.
Proven experience with the installation and configuration of Cisco switches.
Good understanding of network protocols and configurations.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Effective communication and organizational skills.
Relevant certifications such as CCNA or equivalent are preferred.
Additional Information:
This position requires physical activity, including lifting and moving network equipment.
The candidate must be willing to work the 2nd shift and travel to various sites as needed.
