Description: Network Engineer
Overview

As a Network Engineer at our organization, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, integrating, testing, and verifying networks. Your expertise will contribute to supporting a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Air Operations Center (AOC) program. You'll collaborate with a team of professionals to ensure mission-critical systems operate seamlessly.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze Requirements: Evaluate user requirements, network specifications, and network architecture to provide expert network engineering insights.
  • Network Architecture and Design: Develop comprehensive network architecture and design documentation.
  • Implementation Planning: Support network development and implementation planning by assessing system requirement documents.
  • Complex System Support: Provide network engineering support for highly complex mission-critical systems.
  • Design Plans: Create design plans using AutoCAD, adhering to Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standards.
  • Requirements Traceability: Translate operational requirements and user needs into functional and technical specifications, maintaining requirements traceability matrices.
  • Configuration Control: Maintain and track design baselines through effective configuration control measures.
  • Review Participation: Engage in both informal and formal design and engineering reviews.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and analyze alternatives for system components and network design considerations.
  • Cybersecurity Integration: Incorporate cybersecurity considerations into network design.
  • Standards Adherence: Follow Department of Defense (DoD), US Air Force (USAF), and industry best practices.
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Interface with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to generate component and network specifications.
  • Hardware and Software Interfaces: Define interfaces between systems and subsystems.
  • Technical Documentation: Collaborate with engineers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create technical documentation, including System/Subsystem Design Descriptions (SSDDs), Installation Specifications, Technical Data Packages (TDPs), and more.
  • Collaboration and Meetings: Participate in working groups, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Integrated Product Team (IPT) Meetings, and Program Reviews as required.
  • Training Material Support: Provide subject matter expertise to Training Developers for material development.
  • System Integration and Testing: Support system integration and testing in a lab environment within the continental United States (CONUS).
  • Additional Duties: Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
Requirements
  • Security Clearance: Active Secret security clearance.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience working as an engineer for DoD/Military programs.
  • Network Equipment Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience installing and configuring network equipment, including firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, etc.
  • Large-Scale Network Design: Experience supporting network design on large-scale DoD/MILCON programs.
  • Operations Centers Knowledge: Familiarity with network design for Operations Centers/Command Centers.
  • C2 Systems Exposure: Experience with Command and Control (C2) systems for the US Air Force.
  • C4I Systems (Preferred): Familiarity with C4I systems, including Audio Visual, Access Control / Intrusion Detection (ACS/IDS), Voice Communications, Link 16, Ground Based Air Defense (GBAD), etc.
  • Secure Computing and Virtualization: Exposure to Secure Computing Environments and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
  • Red/Black Separation: Understanding of red/black separation requirements.
  • Certification: CCNA or equivalent industry certification.
  • Cloud Architecture Experience: Familiarity with designing, implementing, and managing network architectures in Google Cloud or a comparable cloud environment.
