Job Title: Azure Data Architect
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid
Requirements:
We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect with strong expertise in Databricks to design, implement, and optimize scalable cloud-based data solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Azure data services, modern data architectures, data lakehouse concepts, and advanced analytics platforms. You will play a key role in shaping enterprise-wide data strategies, ensuring governance, and enabling data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end data architecture leveraging Azure services (AzureData Lake, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Databricks, Cosmos DB, etc.).
- Build and optimize data pipelines for batch and real-time ingestion, transformation, and processing using Databricks.
- Define and enforce data modeling, data governance, and metadata management standards.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and data scientists to align architecture with organizational goals.
- Implement scalable lakehouse solutions combining structured and unstructured data for analytics and AI/ML workloads.
- Ensure performance, security, and compliance across all data solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and best practices for Azure and Databricks adoption.
- Conduct architecture reviews, capacity planning, and cost optimization on Azure.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years of overall IT experience, with 5+ years in Data Architecture.
- Strong expertise in Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Data Lake Gen2, Synapse, Event Hub, Functions, Logic Apps).
- Proven hands-on experience with AzureDatabricks (PySpark, Delta Lake, MLflow, Unity Catalog).
- Strong understanding of data lakehouse, data mesh, and modern data architecture principles.
- Proficiency in data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and orchestration frameworks.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using ARM, Terraform, or Bicep.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
